Volunteering

Why volunteer? People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons; It could be the chance to give something back to the community, to make friends, develop new skills or build on existing knowledge etc. Volunteering can also increase your chances of getting a new job since many employers look more favourably at applicants who volunteer.

Volunteering Opportunities:

Volunteering with Free To Be Kids

Free to Be supports particularly vulnerable children to begin to change their stories about who they are and who they can be.

We do this via overnight adventures and nature based residentials, providing a wide range of activities carefully designed to broaden horizons, build self confidence, resilience and trust in others. As a volunteer you would be working with these incredible children, helping them have a break and get positive adult support. You’ll get full training, gain confidence, make a huge difference to the lives of these children and, whilst you are with us all food, accommodation and activity costs are covered by us.

Volunteering with Maggs Day Centre

Maggs Day Centre for the homeless and vulnerable in Worcester provides a lifeline to help people survive the worst of what life throws at them.

Volunteers can help in several ways: as regular helpers at our Worcester Day Centre or the Worcester clothing project, as active “listeners” giving 1-2 hours a week (note: this is currently paused but will be restarted in due course) and, on a less regular basis, support with maintenance in and around the day centre.

Student Placements: We can offer student placements that are relevant to your course and have previously helped students of mental Health, criminology and occupational therapy.
